Hi! I’m Ms. Keri.
Owner and provider here at Seedling Grove Preschool, I’m passionate about early childhood care and education, all things food, and my darling pets. I’m an avid reader, love going foraging or to the local market for ingredients to play with in my kitchen, and can really get into a good dance party.
I’ve worked providing early childhood care since 2009, both as a private nanny, and as a teacher in different styles of preschool in Alaska and Oregon. I’ve also volunteered at our local DV shelter to work with children in crisis and received the Woman of Heart award for working with children in our community.
I opened Seedling Grove Preschool in 2017 after coming to the conclusion that the mainstream approach to early childhood education just wasn’t adequately meeting the needs of the children enrolled. Classes were too big, environments too negatively stimulating, and providers were constantly at their wits end.
There is a real need for early childhood development rooted in respect to the child, immersed in real life skills, and hands on experiences. Add just a touch of magic, and a whole lot of nature and you get Seedling Grove Preschool!
We are a small, multi aged group that allows children to form a community and experience different roles in that community as they go through ages and stages of development.
I provide an in a home setting that is comfortable, nurturing, and focuses on “life as curriculum”, play based learning, and connection to nature.
My approach to teaching is inspired by Lifeways, Janet Lansbury, a forest school approach, and years of experience.
I’m passionate about providing quality care to our beautiful community!
